Mike is the Executive Vice President of Finance and Treasurer of Esmark, Inc. with primary responsibility for financing and treasury management.
Mike is a senior-level financial executive with over 37 years of corporate experience primarily in corporate finance and treasury management, as well as banking experience serving as a senior commercial lending officer. Mike began his career with United States Steel Corporation, advancing through several positions of increasing responsibility in U. S. Steel’s accounting, audit and treasury departments. Mike was subsequently appointed Treasurer of Aristech Chemical Corporation, a Fortune 500 company spun-off by U. S. Steel into an independent publicly-traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
In 2004, Mike was named Treasurer of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation and became Treasurer of Esmark when Wheeling-Pitt merged with Esmark, Inc. in 2007. Mike continued in that role until the acquisition of Esmark by OAO Severstal in August 2008. In 2014, Mike re-joined the Esmark management team after spending several years in corporate banking.
In his corporate treasury roles at Aristech and Esmark/Wheeling-Pitt, Mike personally raised over $4.0 billion in capital, accessing the public equity, and private and public debt capital markets, as well as entering into conventional and specialized forms of commercial bank financing arrangements.
In addition, his financial experience includes pension and 401(k) plan investment management, working capital optimization, credit administration, and interest rate and insurance risk management.
Mike graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance earning Magna Cum Laude honors, and also received a Master of Business Administration from WVU.
